Warner Bros. has set Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman 2” for release on Dec. 13, 2019. Warner Bros. previously announced an “untitled event film” for the Dec. 13, 2019, slot. “Wonder Woman 2” is the first title to land on the date.

A Wonder Woman sequel was inevitable.

Director Patty Jenkins has also been teasing her ideas for a follow-up story ahead of the formal announcement.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” she previously toldEW. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.” The filmmaker added, “I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love.”

Gadot was inside Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center for the big reveal to promote Justice League, which will see Wonder Woman team up with fellow superheroes Batman (Ben Affleck), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

This year we had a perfect storm of the right movie at the right time delivering on its promises while those around it comparatively faltered. Wonder Woman was a pretty darn good movie, delivering crowd-pleasing action and charming character work from its cast. It offered a certain mythical scope that allowed it to stand by Batman Begins and Superman while existing as its own thing. It differed from Batman v Superman and Man of Steel without invalidating those pictures. And it was better than much of its competition.
